1.
Red stellar object in the celestial space Within the gathering of stars aflame Soul of a star Approaching its critical mass Iron overwhelms the core and the implosion shall soon commence Collapse of a giant star, to explode into supernova In a blink of an eye it has already died In a massive flash of brightest radiation The core is crushed into a singularity All mass implodes into a fragment of its zenith ...Yet hither it dwells, the black abyssal sphere The planets behave as if their sun is still here (But no light evermore draws near) “I am become death, the destroyer of worlds”. They are the cenotaphs of the stars Galactic gravestone Within its remains only a few kilometers wide Blacker than the blackest of nights Gravitational waves, rushing tide Distortion, contortion of portions of spacetime.
2.
Photons converge as from the stars they emerge Towards the massive void Accretion disks like gale wisps Violently form By gravitational distortions Other stars approach the black hole Only to find themselves ripped apart Every atom of their being From the corona to the heart Is information now lost? As light approaches the inescapable void The black hole grows in size Slowly consuming more mass and energy From all that passes by Time slows to a halt as one approaches the event horizon From the outside looking in -But from the other side Time is rushing by Jerking, increasing Acceleration Watching the universe swiftly fade As your matter is avulsed and annihilates.
3.
At the moribundity of celestial life The stars exhausted all of their light Whatever dwarfs that once dwelled Lost forever now and forgotten once (whence) they fell The black holes usurp the cosmos Megalithic through the annals of time Still feasting on the cosmic background radiation That still sublimes Tens of trillions of trillions of years flow away -An eternity for the quarks And bosons from electroweak interactions All is forgotten from before No signs of life remain Besides the voids in the cosmic domain A dark age for the macrocosm No light will ever escape.
4.
After eons almost inconceivably long The universe has converged towards absolute zero Billionths of degrees barely above So-called heat death Virtual particles emerge near the Schwarzschild radii Quantum fluctuations prove more than meet the eyes Pairs of matter and antimatter Carrying energy One of the particles fall back in The other drifts away-as Hawking radiation Even the timeless are not eternal Evaporation of the black holes Energy radiating away Losing mass slowly at first Swiftly the process accelerates As no more mass can be consumed The cold black chasms begin to heat Temperature increases as they shrink And so even more loss of energy The diameter of these holes approaches the minimum After ages they are like ants Violently emitting the last of the virtual particles Approaching the Planck mass The lower limit of their existence Then in a vicious display seen by no mortal eyes The black holes begin to die By Explosive dissipation into innumerable gamma rays Never to come again-forever decayed away... Into profound nothing. “Never again-the ultimate end (destiny).”

about

Concept album about the life and death of a black hole, from collapse of a star following a supernova to its eventual vanishing by evaporation/emission of Hawking Radiation and one possible ultimate fate of the universe.

The cover art is a modified representation of a stellar-mass black hole from NASA.

Recorded between April and August 2018.

Dedicated in loving memory of Stephen Hawking and Stan Lee; Requiescat in pace.
